Mother's day is always an interesting day for me. I miss my Mom, there's no doubt about that. I miss both of my parents every day. Tyler always does something for me on this day though. It never fails. this morning I came downstairs to find him making breakfast for me. Like he says I'm his sister, but I've had my mom moments for him over the years. He has taken to making me special cards on the computer for days like this that say as much. So in a way I get celebrated for all that I do for Tyler. That makes it a decent day. Then there's the moments where I really wish we were celebrating it with our parents. Before our parents got back together it was just me and Mom for a very long time. I can remember Mother's days celebrated on random days because she had to work. Then they got back together, and Tyler came along... We talk about those days, but the truth is he was nine when they died and past memories of our parents get hazy for him. It always makes for an interesting day.

In other news my birthday is tomorrow. I have plans to go to dinner with a friend, and I'm excited for that. Jules gave me an amazing painting for my birthday when we had lunch yesterday. Once it's framed it's hanging in the living room. I really do have a very talented best friend!

I woke up my brother and made him go to the Sunrise service with me this morning. He was not thrilled, it was actually fairly amusing. I told him if he didn't stop complaining he wasn't getting his Easter basket. Yes, I made my 16 year old brother an Easter basket. I made one for Jules to. I couldn't help myself.

We came home and Tyler went to sleep , and I set to work on Easter lunch/dinner. Sometimes Holidays are a little rough around here, sometimes they're not. This was a case of them not being. Jules came over, Tyler's girlfriend and his best friend came over. It was a decently full table, and with two teenage boys there weren't a lot of leftovers!

So far it's been a pretty good holiday. We played boardgames after dinner and now we're all just kind of hanging out. I hope everyone out there has/had a happy Easter!

Private to Danny and Erica
There might be a basket of candy here with your names on them too if you choose to collect them before the teenager finds them =)

Watch out residents of Heritage! My little brother is now a licensed driver! I took him to take the test yesterday and he passed. I'm a little worried about this but I'm trying not to freak out. After all he did pass the test. I bought him an older truck for his birthday so we won't be arguing over my car. I just wish I was more relaxed about the idea of him driving it!

My little brother turns sixteen Friday. I am currently up to my ears in trying to get things done for the big blow-out party he insists on having. I can't blame him, my parents made huge deal out of my sixteenth. Ty deserves the same. I can't believe he's that old. I really can't. It seems like yesterday he was the nine year old kid moving in with me and Mike. I'm pretty sure he was in elementary school only a few months ago. I feel old. There's no way my bratty little brother is going to be old enough to drive.

I sincerely hope everyone has recovered from their hangovers or even sugar hangovers from whatever your festivities to celebrate Valentine's day were! It was a fairly quiet night at my house, which considering the crazy at the bakery was a nice reprieve. I helped Tyler prepare a romantic dinner for his girlfriend and after making them pose for pictures when she got to the house (Mainly to embarrass him, because let's face it, that's fun) I disappeared upstairs.

Jules and I watched some chick flicks and ate candy. It was pretty reminiscent of our Junior high days except for the wine instead of the sparkling cider. I'm a firm believer that any holiday is what you make of it and we made a fun night of it.

I hope everyone else had a great night also.

Not only was it nice to get out of the house finally, but it was great to get back to work! Ive missed the bakery :). And I've missed conversing with customers. Several regulars stopped by today and it was fun to catch up with those that are out and about again, and to hear what's been going on with some during the storm. . Even if it was for just the day considering we're closed on Sunday. I had a good day.

Yesterday I had shoveled enough of the driveway to get my car out of the garage . I came home to find the driveway completely cleared, as well as the walk cleared, and salted. My little brother totally kicks ass sometimes.

So...I love the snow. growing up in Southern California we didn't see a whole lot of it. We could drive to it, and at least once a year my Mom and I would go when I was growing up. As I got older I would go with friends, and Mike loved to Snowboard so we'd go up to Big Bear a lot during the season. I love everything about it. Including the curling up indoors in front of a fireplace with Hot Chocolate and a good movie. So pretty much, so far, my days have been kind of heavenly.

I'd say I'm enjoying the days off, but I'm really still baking. It's such a fun snowy day, activity, keeps the house warmer also. I'm making way more than Tyler and I can manage to eat though so...if you're in walking distance come over and have some cookies , or muffins, and Tea or Cocoa. Seriously. Neighbors are all invited.

For now though? I need to go kick my brothers ass at a snowball fight again. I was victorious this morning , and yesterday, but he challenged me again over lunch=) Poor kid just can't stand losing!

You know what's super hilarious? Listening to a foreign language dub of an american TV show or movie. I was flipping channels and came across Clueless which is a favorite of mine. I didn't realize what channel I was on though so imagine my surprise when they characters were speaking in Spanish.

It was pretty hilarious, everything sounds about ten times more dramatic with a dub.

This may be my new favorite way to watch certain movies.

Christmas was busy, and crazy and...Wow I feel like I can breathe again for a second. Seriously, every year I forget how darn busy it is at the bakery during the Holidays. I think I forget it because I love it. I've always been best when I'm so busy I can't comprehend the things I need to do and the past week and a half has definitely been that. Oh I had a few days of relaxation at home while Tyler was off on his snowboarding trip , and that made the busy a little easier to take.

Still though, I think this is the first time I've had a chance to look at the computer since the last time I updated here! It was fun though, as busy at it was it was definitely a fun holiday. Christmas Eve we had friends over to the house and Christmas morning Tyler and I had our little exchanging of gifts to each other. My little brother never ceases to amaze me. This was my Christmas gift. I cried, he made fun of my for crying. So typical day in our house. made me miss Mike like crazy though, I wish he was still here with us, it was so much more festive then.

Anyway, I hope you all made it through Christmas! Next up is New Years Eve, I told Tyler he could go to a party one of his friends is having. I am scared to death about this, which means I should probably go out myself so I don't sit at home and worry. Anything good happening around town Saturday night?

It's definitely Christmas time at the bakery. I think our display case is almost completely full of Christmas items! Cookies, cakes, some candies. You name it I have somehow managed to make it Christmassy! There' just over a week left and on one hand I love this season, on the other hand? I may be almost over the Christmas music. We play it non stop all day which means my head is full of jingle bells when I get home. I was singing Frosty the Snowman in my sleep, no lie.

Tyler is ready for his vacation, a couple days which will be spent going skiing with some friends of his. I was wavering about letting him go, but after being assured that one of the other guys had a parent going along with I decided to relent. I just have a hard time remember he's growing up. This is evidenced by the fact part of me still wants to get him toys for Christmas! Someday I will remember that my brother is an almost 16 year old. Really, I will. He reminds me of this fact enough!

Sitting at home , eating popcorn, and watching "A Christmas Story." It's a tradition this time of year with Tyler and me. It was fun but I just realized... Tyler's right. I need to get out more.

I was going to go check out the date auction tonight. Fate apparently had other plans since I woke up this morning feeling like death warmed over. I really hope that everyone has a good time though and that lots of money is raised. Being sick sucks and I've never been any good at it. I also live with a fifteen year old boy. Best little brother in the world but he's not so great at nursing his big sister! He did offer to sit and watch the football game with me today, I think he just wanted the big TV I commandeered because I was sick =). I let him watch tv and I took a nap and now he's out with friends and I'm here watching Christmas movies on TV. I can't help it. I'm a sucker for a good Hallmark or Lifetime Christmas movie. They make me happy.

Here's hoping I get better by Monday!
